WIAS9: Different Thinking on Inclusion

Inclusion is so multi-dimensional.

Another thought-provoking Men for Inclusion Workplace Inclusion Alliance session last week as we explored “Different Thinking on Inclusion”, with a focus on the introversion/extraversion spectrum and different leadership and communication styles.

Expertly led by the brilliant Sarah Manley ACC, author of “The Quiet Catalyst”, we uncovered a whole series of a diverse perspectives from a knowledgeable and engaged set of accomplices. To share a few key insights, we talked about:

– how introversion/extraversion is fundamentally about how we best manage our energy
– why certain work situations require much higher levels of energy to navigate for some people
– effective strategies that enable those from across this particular spectrum to contribute in ways that utilise their differences to create better work outcomes

A big thank you to Emma Potter and everyone at AllianceBernstein for providing the space for such an engaging conversation.

Thank you also to everyone who shared the insightful and knowledgeable thoughts on such a complex area – Karen Anderson, Melissa King, Sal Kaabipour CMgr MCMI, James Tanton, Samantha Stimpson FRSA, Robert Doubble, Matthew Durrans, James Bogue, Stephen Lambert, Wendy Ramshaw, Garry Bilbow, Ben Edkins, Florencia Salim Valdivia and Joanna Heymann.

And as always, a big thank to the whole Men for Inclusion team that make these events happen – Alana Stuart, Tara Stanley & Mark Freed

Here’s to the next one (October 9th – please reach out to me if you are interested).
