🚨 “Tradwife” is now in the Cambridge Dictionary.
Yes, you read that right. The word now officially describes a woman who embraces a traditional role as a wife and homemaker.
And let me be clear: I fully respect freedom of choice. If that’s the life someone wants – fantastic.
But here’s my concern 👇
I’ve spent the last 25 years helping people break away from outdated stereotypes. So while I understand why tradwife makes the cut, I can’t help but notice what’s missing…
🔎 Where’s the positive word for men who have broken away from male stereotypes – men who no longer feel trapped by the outdated expectations of being the “breadwinner,” “stoic,” or “tough guy”?
🔎 Where’s the uplifting word for women who have shattered stereotypes – often juggling marriage, motherhood, and a career – while carving out their own identity?
Language matters. If we can celebrate a return to “traditional” roles, surely we can also celebrate those who are breaking free from tradition to define life on their own terms.
So here’s my provocation:
➡️ What would YOU call them?
Because until we give these people a name, their courage risks being invisible.
