International Women’s Day is just around the corner. I’ve been reflecting on this year’s themes. The independent International Women’s Day 2026 campaign is centred on “Give to Gain” – encouraging generosity and collective support for gender equality.
Meanwhile, the UN Women UK theme calls for “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls.” – highlighting the need to dismantle legal and structural barriers to equality.
Important messages. Necessary messages.
And yet, for many of us marking the day in our workplaces, the language can feel abstract – distant from the everyday moments that shape women’s lived experience at work.
At Men for Inclusion, what matters to us is something much simpler and much harder:
That everyone in our workplaces is Seen. Heard. Valued.
Not just those who look like the majority.
👁️ Seen as colleagues and leaders – not as statistics, initiatives, or “diversity numbers.”
👂 Heard without interruption, defensiveness, or being talked over.
💙 Valued equally – for ideas, productivity, creativity, contribution and for being part of the team.
This isn’t women’s work.
This isn’t about slogans or once-a-year statements.
This is everyone’s responsibility.
In meetings.
In decisions.
In who we back, promote, listen to and believe.
In who we choose to build affinity with.
International Women’s Day matters.
But what matters more is what we do on the other 364 days.
I’m delighted that this year we are teaming up with the Energy Institute and POWERful Women, with guest speaker Helen Tubb – to celebrate, yes – but also to share ideas and actions that go beyond the day itself and make a real difference in our workplaces.
If you’re marking IWD this year, what practical action will you take that lasts beyond the hashtag?
